Power your Raspberry Pi - or any other micro-USB powered device - via ethernet with this passive PoE to micro-USB injector/splitter cable set. Simply connect the injector to your power source and LAN/WAN, and connect the splitter to your device's power and ethernet inputs. Use up to 20M CAT5e cable in between. Please read the power source & cable advisory below.
Passive PoE
This kit uses 'passive' Power-over-Ethernet, meaning there is no active power negotiation or voltage control (as is the case with IEEE802.3af Power over Ethernet standard). In general for the Raspberry Pi this means it will work up to about 20M. But please read more here. For longer distances and/or additional power requirements we advise using IEEE 802.3af PoE products instead (see other offers).
Power source & Ethernet cable
For passive PoE it is important that you use a decent 5V/2A power source and high quality CAT5e cable. The cable must have pure copper wiring with a diameter conforming 24AWG (0.2"/0.5mm single wire). Please be noted that there is an increasing number of inferior cabling products on the market; even some sold as CAT5e / 24AWG turn out to have alluminium wire or diameters of 0.2mm instead of 0.2".
